Any individual working in Iowa, of any age or career stage, who is making a positive impact on health and well-being may be nominated. This work may be part of a professional role or through volunteer efforts.

Winners will be announced in October during Healthiest State Month.

Previous winners may be nominated again if they have continued to expand or significantly grow their impact since receiving the award. However, nominations should highlight new achievements, initiatives, or measurable outcomes that have occurred since the previous recognition.

Yes. Self-nominations are welcome!

Nominees should be working in Iowa or making a measurable impact on the health of Iowans.

Yes. Individuals and organizations are welcome to submit multiple nominations for different candidates who are making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of Iowans.

The Annual Awards recognize individual leaders, but nominations may highlight the teams, organizations, or partnerships that helped make the work possible. The nomination should focus on the individual’s leadership and role in driving the effort.

A selection committee reviews nominations based on specific criteria.

We require two supporting documents/materials such as photos, testimonials, media coverage, and letters of support. One letter of support is required.

Organizations can support the awards through sponsorship, which helps recognize health leaders and expand efforts to improve well-being across Iowa.
