Iowa Healthiest State Initiative Launches New Make It OK Workplace Registration and Expands Mental Health Awareness Month Partnerships
The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative today announced the launch of its new Make It OK® Workplace Registration, a streamlined way for Iowa employers to join the statewide movement to reduce stigma and create more supportive, mentally healthy work environments. The registration is now open at: www.iowahealthieststate.com/makeitok/workplace.
The Make It OK Workplace program allows workplaces to register at one of three tiers and equips organizations with tools, training opportunities, and messaging resources to help prioritize employee mental health. By officially registering, workplaces gain access to curated guidance and year‑round support to help normalize conversations, promote help‑seeking, and foster a culture of well-being.
“With how much time we spend at our jobs, our workplaces can play a critical role in our mental health,” said Iowa Healthiest State Initiative Executive Director, Jami Haberl. “Our new workplace registration process makes it easier than ever for employers to take meaningful steps toward reducing stigma and supporting their employees.”
In addition to the new workplace registration, the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has released its Mental Health Awareness Month 2026 resources developed in partnership with NAMI Iowa, Mindspring Mental Health Alliance, and Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
Throughout May, workplaces, community groups, and individuals will have access to:
Downloadable Make It OK campaign materials and toolkits
Free educational trainings and webinars
Crisis support and awareness tools
And storytelling and awareness activities
“This year, we kicked off a coordinated effort to bring together organizations who are champions for mental health across the state,” said Make It OK Coordinator, Brianna Sink. “Reducing stigma and making an impact in Iowa takes all of us, and when we work together, we can create a stronger network of mental health education and resources.”
The free Make It OK Mental Health Awareness Month toolkit, events, and additional resources can be found at www.iowahealthieststate.com/make-it-ok-mental-health-awareness-month. Organizations, communities, and individuals are all encouraged to get involved
