Double Up Food Bucks Expands to All Fareway Locations in Iowa
SNAP users can now utilize the program at 169 participating locations across Iowa
The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative’s Double Up Food Bucks program has expanded its partnership with Fareway to offer the program at every Fareway location in Iowa.
The addition of 76 Fareway stores will make the program accessible to thousands of Iowans and help them put more fresh produce on the table for their families. This expansion comes just weeks after the launch of online registration for the Double Up Food Bucks program.
“We are always working to expand the Double Up Food Bucks program to more locations to reach more Iowans,” said Iowa Healthiest State Executive Director Jami Haberl. “This is one of the largest expansions in the history of the program, and it will help thousands of families across the state live their healthiest life by helping them bring home more fresh fruits and vegetables.”
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) users are automatically eligible for Double Up Food Bucks. The program empowers SNAP recipients to maintain a healthy diet and to put more food on the table for themselves and their family. For every dollar spent on produce, another dollar is matched in Double Up Food Bucks, up to fifteen dollars per day.
How Double Up Food Bucks works: A customer who spends $15 in SNAP benefits at a participating site receives an additional $15 in free Double Up Food Bucks to spend on locally grown fruits and vegetables. The program provides a 1:1 match, up to $15 per day. To learn more about Double Up Food Bucks including participating sites visit www.DoubleUpIowa.org.
