2023 Healthiest State Annual Award Winners Announced 

2023 Annual Awards winners in the Healthy HometownSM Powered by Wellmark Category: Bettendorf, Grundy Center, and Hiawatha.

The Healthiest State Initiative has announced the winners of the 2023 Healthiest State Workplace, Individual presented by Malvern Bank, and Healthy HometownSM Powered by Wellmark Community Annual Awards. The winners were recognized for their efforts to improve the physical, social, and emotional well-being of their employees and community during an in-person award ceremony on Thursday, April 20th during the 2023 Workplace Wellbeing Conference. 

 The winners in the 5 categories are: 

 Healthy HometownSM Poweredby  Wellmark Community Award: 

  • Bettendorf 

  • Grundy Center 

  • Hiawatha 

Individual Presented by Malvern Bank 

  • Becky West (Solon Community School District) 

Workplace: 

  • Small – Availa Bank (Johnston) 

  • Medium – DLL Finance (Des Moines) 

  • Large – The University of Iowa (Iowa City) 

 “Fostering healthy workplaces, schools, and communities takes the hard work of individuals and organizations across the state,” said Jami Haberl, executive Director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. “The Annual Awards are an excellent opportunity to celebrate and support those dedicated to improving the physical, social, and mental health of Iowans.” 

 Each winner was awarded a monetary prize to continue their work focused on improving the health and wellness at their site.

 The remaining 2023 Healthiest State Annual Awards winners in the Early Care, K-12 School, Health Care, Out-of-School, and Youth Power categories will be announced at the 2023 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! Summit on October 25th. The finalists in the remaining categories include:
