How It Works
If eligible, your provider will refer you into the program and you’ll receive your first month’s education and IPPP vouchers.

Refer
Refer
You will receive a call or email to complete enrollment. This means taking a quick survey over the phone or online. You should complete this survey before returning the clinic.
Enroll
Once a month for 6 months, you will return to your clinic and meet with a healthcare provider to review a nutrition and health topic and “refill” your vouchers. You’ll also leave each visit with new recipes, tips, and resources.
Refill
Spend your vouchers at participating locations (listed on the back of the voucher). Treat your vouchers like cash and keep in mind: Tell your cashier you are spending Produce Prescription before check out, spend as close to $5 at a time as you can (no change is given), and spend before the expiration date on the voucher!
Spend
Finish
After 6 months, you will receive a call or email to take another brief survey to complete the program and receive your final “prescription”.

You will receive a call or email from an Iowa Community Hub Navigator to complete enrollment. This means taking a quick survey over the phone or through an online link. You should complete this survey before returning the clinic for your next IPPP appointment.
Refill
Each month for 6 months total, you will return to your clinic and meet with a member of your healthcare team to review a nutrition and health topic to “refill” your Produce Prescription vouchers. After these visits you will leave with your vouchers and an educational flyer featuring tips, recipes, and other resources.
Spend
Spend your vouchers at participating retail locations (listed on the back of the voucher). Treat your vouchers like cash and keep in mind: Tell cashier you are spending Produce Prescription before checking out, spend as close to $5 at a time as you can (no change is given), and spend before the expiration date printed on the front of the voucher!
Finish
After 6 months, you will receive a call or email from an Iowa Community Hub Navigator to complete another brief survey to complete the program and receive your final “prescription”
