The Healthy Habit All-Star program has been designed by the Iowa Department of Public Health to assist in educating children about public health topics. This Healthy Habit All-Star episode features 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count!
In this episode, Hannah has been spending too much time on her tablet. But the Healthy Habit All-Stars rush to the rescue! They remind Hannah to stay healthy with the 5-2-1-0 healthy habits: 5 or more fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of screen-time, 1 hour of physical activity and 0 sugary drinks – drink more water!
Healthy Habit All-Star Resources:
Lesson plans give instructors reference material to provide education around the video and 5-2-1-0 message. The lesson plans are broken into three different grade levels: PreK-K, 1st-2nd and 3rd-5th that meet Iowa Health Standards and 21st Century Skills. Students will understand the importance of daily movement, list ways to get moving and stay healthy and will engage in physical activity and move in a variety of ways. Access the lesson plans here.
