Iowa Healthiest State Initiative invites you to apply for the 2019 Double Up Food Bucks program in grocery stores. We are looking forward to a robust season with plenty of SNAP customers to serve. Reaching diverse communities throughout the state of Iowa is one of our goals. We look forward to helping residents improve their nutritional intake and providing healthy options for underserved customers.
The program doubles the value of federal nutrition (SNAP) benefits spent at participating farmers markets and grocery stores, helping people bring home more healthy fruits and vegetables while supporting local farmers. The small pilot in 2016 has grown into the first state-wide food incentive network effort. Low-income families bring home more healthy food, local farmers gain new customers and make more money, and more food dollars stay in the local economy. Each has a ripple effect of benefits.
Stores that participate have the potential for additional sales during the program season. In addition, participation in this groundbreaking project will provide new avenues for promotion, draw positive media exposure, and attract new customers.
Applications are being collected by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative (HSI) which facilitates the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) programs throughout the state.
