ONE AWESOME WAY TO STAY HEALTHY! 

Celebrate 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! in October

It’s all about 5-2-1-0 in October! Whether your school, community, early care program or health care clinic is new to 5-2-1-0 or already registered and ready for more, there are a variety of ways your staff and students can make “Healthy Choices Count!” during Healthiest State Month.

1 hour of physical activity 

Week 1: Oct. 5–9

Focus on getting 1 hour of physical activity each day. Participate in the Healthiest State 10th Annual Walk on October 7.

5 or more fruits and veggies 

Week 2: Oct. 12-16

Focus on eating 5 fruits or vegetables each day.  Participate in Iowa Local Food Day on Oct. 14, sponsored by Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

2 hours or less of screen time 

Week 3: Oct. 19-23

Focus on 2 hours or less of screen time each day. Reduce screen time by reading a book or participate in a program that doesn't require a screen.

0 sugary drinks

Week 4: Oct. 26-30

Focus on drinking 0 sugary beverages and more water each day. Water is fuel for your body!  To keep your body running smoothly, drink plenty of water throughout the day!
