Building Emotional and Change Agility in People and Organizations

We live and work in a world where disruption is the name of the game. Although disruption can bring benefits in exploration, growth, innovation and scientific and technological breakthroughs, it also bumps us up against our own human biology; as a species, we are hardwired to seek familiarity, comfort and certainty. Consequently, we end up triggered and show up in increasingly disconnected, guarded and reactive ways - which rarely serves us or others well. Put a bunch of us together in a workplace that also has to adapt, and we end up with stuck people and processes. In order to thrive in this disruptive world and be future-ready, we must enhance our capacity for both emotional and change agility in people and organizations. This session will uncover how we can reconcile the gap between the change the world is surrounding us with and our innate human tendencies to become stronger, better versions of ourselves.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe key attributes of what it takes to thrive in a disruptive environment and the barriers that get in our way
  • Define emotional agility and why it is essential to have
  • Identify key ways to foster greater emotional and change agility throughout your organization
