Keep your Kids Healthy and Active this Summer

There is no better time than summer to eat healthier and to stay more active. Live Healthy Iowa Kids is holding numerous events in May and June to celebrate active and healthy kids and highlighting the importance of physical activity, healthy lifestyles and nutrition.

Plan a 30-minute physical activity event for your students and register your school/youth organization at www.livehealthyiowakids.org. Activities could, but not limited to, can include ideas such as a neighborhood walk, an obstacle course, fitness stations, relay races, group dancing, a nature hike and many more! Governors Youth Action Award (entries due May 19)

The Governor’s Youth Action Award was established in 2015 to encourage Iowa youth to explore the benefits of healthy lifestyles, including physical activity, community and nutrition.

Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds, in conjunction with the Healthiest State Initiative, Live Healthy Iowa Kids and Midwest Dairy Council created this award to recognize the outstanding achievement of Iowa youth through posters and/or video submissions.

Burst Your Thirst (June 12-July 21st)

Drinking water is key to keep muscles energized, to regulate body temperature and affects nearly all-major body systems.

Live Healthy Iowa wants you to stay hydrated and healthy this summer! On June 12, Live Healthy Iowa is kicking off a fun, summer challenge to develop healthy habits through an online competition.

The six-week Burst Your Thirst Challenge is great for friends, families, businesses and/or communities! Registration is open May 15-June 19.
