During this year’s challenge over four million squats were performed by participating classrooms across Iowa. The winner was Miss England’s class from Shuler Elementary in Waukee, which saw each student complete over 5,000 squats.
Miss England’s second grade class received gifts for winning the challenge that included healthy snacks, recess equipment for their school, and t-shirts. A $1,000 reward was also presented to the teacher, Miss England, from the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative and the Director of the Hy-Vee KidsFit program, Daira Driftmier. Driftmier won the 2022 Healthiest State Individual Award and designated the 2022 Squat Challenge Winner as the recipient of her $1,000 reward.
The winner and the rewards were presented at a schoolwide assembly on Friday, March 25th.
