3 ways to make walking more fun for kids

Walking is one of the most sustainable ways to keep your body feeling its best.

Sometimes the hardest thing about walking is starting.

Here are 3 ways from Hy-Vee KidsFit to make walking more fun for the whole family!

1. Follow the Leader Walk

Here's how you do it:

REGISTER AS A FAMILY: Healthiest State Annual Walk on October 6

  • Pick a leader by drawing names from a hat.
  • Start walking in a line with the leader at the front. Remember to follow the leader wherever they go!
  • Have the leader perform the exercises they are best at while the rest of the group mimics their every move! 
  • The person in line behind the leader is the next leader!

2. Nature Walk

Use the worksheet to notice what you see, smell, hear and feel on your walk. Take time after your walk was finished to reflect on where you went and who you walked with.

3. Animal Walk
