Tips to get moving
With the Healthiest State 11th Annual Walk just around the corner, prep your steps by walking 30 minutes every day. Walking is a great way to get your body moving and maintain your overall health. In addition to providing benefits to all areas of your health, it’s also a great way to connect with others.
How to start walking:
- Make an activity goal each day and log your activity. The recommended number of steps per day is 10,000.
- Find ways to cut down driving, walk instead! Choose the option that helps you be more active; take the stairs, walk your dog, etc.
- Switch up where you walk. By changing where you walk, it keeps walking fun, and you get to experience something different every time.
- Walk with others! Consider walking with family and friends to make walking a fun way for you to connect with others.
Exercising can also help your vision to prevent cataracts and glaucoma. A brisk walk every day helps to increase blood flow in the eyes reducing risk of cataracts and glaucoma.
