Tips to see well and sleep well in May
Did you know that May is Healthy Vision Month and Better Sleep Month?
Vision and sleep are both big factors in our day-to-day health and there are small things we can do to support our vision and sleep in large ways.
Healthy Vision Month
Eyes are important to the overall health of our bodies. Here’s a few ways you can ensure you are protecting your vision.
- Schedule regular eye exams: Receiving regular eye exams can help define problems early and get you the treatment you need to prevent and reduce eye related conditions.
- Protect against UV rays: The sun is shining brighter than before which means our eyes have increased exposure to UV rays. Over-exposure to UV rays can cause sun damage and cataracts. Wear sunglasses to help protect your eyes and eyesight.

Better Sleep Month
Sleep is crucial to physical, emotional and mental well-being. Without the recommended 8 hours of sleep, our productivity throughout the day declines and so does our health. Here are some helpful tips for getting better sleep:
- Create a consistent sleep routine: Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day of the week to help get your body in a routine and gain consistent sleep.
- Set the mood: Wind down from your day before your head hits the pillow. Try meditation, journaling, gratitude, and breathing exercises to clear your mind and ready your body and mind for sleep.
