With the leadership of Yogesh Shah, MD, MPH, FAAFM and Nicole Gilg, MD, MPH, Broadlawns is taking a leadership position in developing community health initiatives that address population health considerations. As physicians that received concentrated training in public healthcare, Dr. Shah and Dr. Gilg are committed to implementing programming that addresses concerns related to physical activity, diabetes, nutrition and smoking.
One such initiative includes the Walk and Talk with a Doc program. Each Tuesday at noon, Dr. Shah and/or Dr. Gilg lead a one mile walk throughout the Broadlawns campus. The Walk and Talk with a Doc program encourages physical activity for patients, staff and visitors, but it concurrently provides individuals with an opportunity to engage in conversation with a physician on a weekly basis. This is a unique opportunity for patients, visitors and staff to interact with physicians in a non-clinical environment that cultivates more natural conversation in a more familial manner.
