Finding Greens on the GO!

posted on Monday, August 14, 2017

The Waterloo Greens To Go Market is a special mobile produce stand and not-for-profit enterprise in the Waterloo area that brings fresh, local and affordable produce into communities of Waterloo. The program is an AmeriCorps VISTA program and a partnership between UNI Local Food and Waterloo farmers. The organization makes fruits and vegetables accessible in underserved neighborhoods and food deserts in the Waterloo area, while also supporting local producers.

Greens To Go brings health to neighborhoods that lack access to affordable produce. To cut costs, the market harvests their food themselves, creating jobs and skills-training for community members and youth. They then sell these foods to locals at an affordable price, and put all of the profits back into the program! Any leftover produce is donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Through Double Up Food Bucks you can receive a Double Up Food Buck for every dollar you spend at the market- up to 10 dollars free per market day! To find out more about Double Up Food Bucks visit:
